¡Hola Familia! I've been doing so great! I am being continually reminded that the work isn't about me, but that it's about the Lord. Our district has been getting really close to another district in our zone. I really love them. There are a couple elders in their zone that I am really becoming good friends with -Elder Hullinger and Elder Beals. I love these Elders. They are the type of guys that I can goof around with and have fun with but at the same time they know what is truly important. Elder Hullinger and I try and speak Spanish as much as we can... and it's hilarious. We seem to make up works we don't know. We are also developing some slang words that don't really translate the same way in inglés. For instance we say ¡Que es enfermo! Which means ¡that's sick! When we greet each other, we also say ¿costas? He (Elder Hullinger) is a zone leader and even though we have fun, his heart is truly with the Lord. Elder Beals is also hilarious. We are becoming really good friends. I can talk to him about anything and I know he will listen. He is the type of kid that can be so funny at one point but then at the next he can be so spiritual. His prayers are awesome. I can tell that he knows and cares for his Heavenly Father. You can tell by the way he is so reverent while speaking with him. His words are simple yet so meaningful. I love these two Elders. They will be serving in teh Chile Orsorno Mission (something like that). These are Elders that I would hang out with at home, they make me so excited to serve because they are men that could've been super cocky but realize that the Lord comes first.
I had an opportunity anoche to give a blessing of comfort to an hermana in our District. I don't feel that I said anything super profound, but I am confident that that's what the Lord wanted her to hear. I blessed (The Lord really) her with comfort and not to worry and Heavenly Father wanted her to know that He loves her. I have a strong testimony that Heavenly Father loves His children, He knows us on an individual basis. He wants the best for us and as long as we rely on Him, He will help us through any problems. I can look at people and when I really look, I can see that they are Heavenly Father's children. I can see that Padre Celestial truly loves them. I know that He loves everyone, but I also kow that He loves me personally. He loves me because I am His son... and He is my Dad. Mom and Dad I want you to know that I love you so much! Without you I wouldn't be where I am today. I have been blessed with goodly parents who love the Lord. I also want you to knw that Heavenly Father loves you so much. He loves you more than you can even imagine. Thank you for being a constant reminder to me that Heavenly Father loves me. I couldn't have possibly chosen better parents to come down to and live with on this earth. I love you. Padre Celestial love you. When ever you need help or when you need someone to talk to, you can always turn to Him. He is there, and He is listening, and He wants to hear from you. I know that we can get caught up in prayer routines or we pray just simply because we're supposed to, BUT I know that prayer is so much deeper than that. Prayer is communication through love, with your Heavenly Father.
Well, now I'll tell you the real reason why I'm writing home. I got called to the travel service building ayer and they todl me that in order to get my visa I need to make an appearance at the Mexican Consulate. So tomorrow, I am headed up to the Salt Lake airport to fly down to Vegas to talk to some people about getting my visa. It's only going to be a day trip and it's good news that I'm leaving this early because most of the Elders going to Mexico don't get called about this until a week before they leave. I still have about 3 weeks. Who would've thought that I would get to spend a day in Vegas on my mission? :) I want everyone to know that I'm doing great and my prayers are with everyone at home! Love you all!
Con Amor,
Elder Summers
P.S. Every time someone sneezes in Spanish you're supposed to say "salud," but Elder Covington and I say "Estornudar" which means "to sneeze." It makes me happy :) Oh, Happy Birthday Xander.
