Hola Familia,
This week was pretty good but, yet again, not much progress with our investigadores. We invite, invite, and invite but they just don't seem to want to go to Church. The Catholic church is very very strong down here so pretty much everyone is "Catholic". Even if they don't ever act upon their Catholicism they still consider themselves Catholic. The hard part is that everyone and everyone's family are Catholic so our investigadores are afraid of what other people will think of them. Tienen miedo. It's tough because a lot of our investigadores have felt the truth of our message but just are afraid of what others will think about them. Well there is an easy solution to this problem... don't be worried about what others think, if you know something is right you should do it... follow the Spirit and you'll be fine. If we get preoccupied in
what the world thinks about us we aren't going to satisfy anyone. Follow what you know is right, do what you feel is right in the eyes of God and you'll be fine.
I remember when I was little I thought that adults knew everything... that everyone older than me was right. Well during this time on the mission I really am learning what my buddy Dr. Seuss taught through Horton, "A person's a person, no matter how small." It doesn't matter how old we are or how young, we all are living in this world together and can all learn something new every day. It's been a different experiance being out here on the mission, throughout my life I have been a joven (youth) learning from people older than me. Well now out here on the mission things have changed a little bit. I am still young, starting to bald but still young, but now I am the one teaching people older than me. It's different, but I have come to realize that it doesn't matter what age you are everyone can learn new things. Something that can benefit everyone is the Gospel. The Gospel is for everyone, there isn't a time in this life, when we will be able to know every principle and doctrine of the Gospel. If we could achieve this knowledge now, this life wouldn't have a point. We can learn something knew about the Gospel every single day. Then after we learn this new thing we need to put it in to practice to make it be of worth... como leemos en Santiago "Fe sin obras es muerte" (Like we read in James, "Faith without works is dead". The Gospel is awesome, it applies to everyone, and will bless you (undoubtedly) if you strive to learn it and then put it into practice.
Elder Gigante Espiritual and I did have a pretty cool experience this week. We went and ate with the Familia Gonzales and afterwards we shared a scripture and asked if there was anything we could do for them (like always). Well, to our surprise, they told us that there was something that we could do it for them and we could do it right then. Well they told us that they needed 800 bricks moved up to their roof. So we got working. Elder H. stayed down on the ground and I went up on the roof. He started throwing bricks at me and (more often than not) I caught the bricks and made a pile on the roof. While going through the pile of bricks Elder H. found a whole bunch of different types of insects and huge spiders. One time he threw a brick up to me and to my surprise there was still a spider on the brick... ¡Zas!, yo grité como una niña. It was pretty funny. Then about 100 bricks later Elder Hernandez found something strange, he found a frog living in the bricks. He then threw the frog up at me to look at it (yeah, poor frog right ;) ).

We continued through the pile of bricks and found about 15 frogs in total... it was really weird but we had a lot of fun throwing the frogs at eachother. Well after a long time of tossing frogs and bricks up to the roof we finally only had one brick left. Maybe due to the lack of strength or lack of endurence Elder H. attempted to throw the last brick up to me but instead it went up in the air in the different dirrection. Well at this same time Hermana Gonzales decided to come outside to see if we were close to being done with a brick heading right to her dirrection. I watched as the Spiritual Giant charged at the Hermana with fear as his eyes, diving at her at the last second, swatting the brick out of the way right before smashing into her head.
She was fine, and the three of us couldn't stop laughing afterwards. It literally was the last brick that almost killed Hernana Gonzales. It was a really good experiance and one of the funnest times I have had con Elder Hernandez. Service is great.
Alright I better get going but I want to let you know the Gospel is true and Service is awesome. Talk to you next week.
Con Amor,
Elder Summers
