Familia,
Things are going really well here in Libertad 1. We are working super hard and finding people that have been prepared to share the Gospel. We really only have two investigators that are really progressing(fulfilling with all of their comitments such as, having a baptismal date, reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and keeping the commandments). One of these investigators is named José Luís. He is 55 years old and really is just a great guy. The first day I got here we asked him to be baptized and he accepted. Well he is progressing a lot. We kind of figured he had a problem with the Word of Wisdom (thanks to the smell of smoke in his clothes) so we taught him about this comandment this week. He understood why it was important to keep the Word of Wisdom and was very receptive. He told us that he would stop smoking right then and there and that he wouldn't drink coffe either. He is just such a great guy and he hasn't smoked for a little over a week. He is just so chosen and ready. But the best part of meeting with José Luís is that we get to see where he is in the Book of Mormon. He has been an investigator for 2 weeks and when we taught him last night he was already in Helaman 5! He's such a great guy and loves reading the Book of Mormon. He even told us that sometimes he wants to smoke but finds it better to just read the Book of Mormon instead. :) He is just so great. He is also telling everyone that he is going to get baptized and is preparing for it every day. I haven't had such a prepared investigator through out all of my mission.

Elder Solorzano and I are working hard and having a great time. We joke around so much but are working our butts off. I love it... this might have just become the best time of my mission thus far. It's just a testimony builder to me about obedience... we are trying to be obedient in every aspect of the mission... and guess what, obedience works... I love having a companion that is obedient. (Mosiah 2:41) |
I am doing really well and enjoying the mission. I find myself learning about the function of Humility in the mission more and more everyday. One thing that I haven't really been good at all of my life is paying attention to the details. Well, being Zone Leader now makes it so that I really do have to pay attention to the little things and make sure that all of the numbers line up... this part of the mission isn't much fun for me but I know that it is preparing me for the future.
Talk to you all next week.
Love,
Elder Summers
