Hey family,
So I am short on time this week but I want to update you all on how it’s going in the área.
Honestly, I am super tired. Elder Solórzano and I are the Zone Leaders so we take the date of the two districts of our zone every night. There are about 6 Americans in our district (one being an hermana). The missionaries all seem to be doing well... it’s a good group of missionaries here. One thing that is tough is that we do not sleep at 10:30 every night. We are so caught up with the data that we usually get to bed between 11 and 12... It’s been kind of a hard adjustment waking up at 6:30 still.
Elder Solórzano is just awesome. He works his butt off... which is a very strange adjustment... due to the fact that my last couple companions didn't really care to work. He teaches really well and is just an awesome leader. I also haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. We joke all the time... but work our butts off as well. It is just awesome! I really am just enjoying my time right now... it's very hard and at times I have felt a little overwhelmed, but I really am just having a wonderful time here in my new area.
I also had an awesome experience with a new investigador named José Luis Martinez this last week.
(Thanks Dad)
[We stopped by to visit a future investigator with whom Elder Solórzano and Elder McLellen spoke last week. They gave him a Book of Mormon. Well, we went to share a message with him about the restoration. We checked with him about the Book of Mormon and he said he was reading in chapter 20 of 1 Nephi. He accepted our message, set a baptismal date, and attended church this past week. This is a good example of what it says in Chapter 5 of Preach My Gospel (P.M.G.) when it says the Book of Mormon is the best tool in converting people.
The area is doing great with our "talk to people" goal. One thing we are struggling with is the number of lessons given each day. We spoke with Elder Taveras about this issue in his district and we are seeing results in how many lessons we have. Specifically we talked about short lessons in L1 in Preach My Gospel. We are also teaching many lessons about the restoration to help people understand why the restoration is necessary as well as the importance of the Book of Mormon. With these two things we have had more success with investigators attending sacrament meeting and the investigator's progress.]
I love you all. I am absolutely loving my mission right now and I hope you all go to church. That's about it.
Love, Elder Summers
P.S. Happy Birthday Xander!
P.S.S. That’s so awesome about Austin and your guys' trip. Please congratulate him for me.
