Familia,
I'll be honest this last week has been pretty tough. I feel like we have just been working hard but nothing/nobody seems to be changing. We have met some pretty great people and have stopped by to talk with them about the gospel... at first they seem super interested, some of the people even say that of course they want to be baptized but then they don't keep there commitments to read, pray, or attend church. It's been pretty tough. We visit with members and ask to see if they can help us out. Most of the time they tell us no but the times that they tell us yes, we go to the investigators house for the appointment and they aren't there. We work our butts off to get a member to come with us and then the investigadores flake out. It's a little discouraging.
We did have a cool experience this week. We have been talking with a lot of people in the street lately and making appointments with them... but like I said, usually the people aren't there when we stop by. Anyways, we talked with a guy in the street and later stopped by his house to visit him. When we got there he told us that he was a little surprised that we actually stopped by. He then told us something really special. He told us that when we talked to him in the street he felt something different within his body. He said he "felt like there was something that moved in my soul." He then told us he wants to change his life and follow Jesus Christ. We went by a second time and he said he had a few questions for us about Joseph Smith and felt it was really weird what he read about him. We explained that Jesus Christ is the most important person in our lives and that thanks to the restoration we can now follow Jesus Christ. He accepted the message well and said that he is going to pray, read the book of mormon, pray some more, and go to church. Well, he didn't go to church but we are going to stop by again to try and help him follow Christ. It is pretty amazing that God puts people in our path every day and we might not even know it.
I received a call today from an Assistant to the President and he pretty much told us we aren't working hard enough and that we need to be working harder to help the people come unto Christ. It's just tough sometimes because I feel that no matter what I do people still have the choice to not accept this message... and for the better part people usually choose not to follow Him. It's been a tough week and really kind of discouraging but I also now that it's just a phase and that we shouldn't always just expect everything to go perfect and have to realize that things happen in God's time... not always exactly when we want things to happen. The church is true, I know Christ lives and died for each and every one of us, and I understand the importance of me being out here augmenting the kingdom of God.
Love,
