Familia,
We had some success this week with Daniel and Tereza. Tereza hasn't wanted to go to church... it's been kind different to change back to the life as an active member for her. This week we had an awesome lesson with the bishop present and he invited them to go to church. Daniel and Tereza and their family went to church this last week. Daniel is preparing for his baptism on the 7th of March.
I'm running out of time so I will be sharing the letter that I sent to President this week... here it is. The story is found in Mosiah 21 about Limhi and his people... and the story about Alma is found in Mosiah 24 (I believe). If you are interested it is fun to see the differences in the attitudes between these two groups of people when they were enslaved.
[We had great success with an investigator named Angeles this week. As companions we studied the story of Limhi and Alma in the Book of Mosiah to see how we can improve and help our investigators. Instead of thinking "Why does this has to happen to us?", We're thinking about what God wants us to learn from these hard times. We thought about Sister Angeles and her progress ... she is very good but has struggled with attending Sacrament meeting due to her work. We stopped by to share a message about "Praying Often" with her and her family but instead of just teaching the commandment in our own words ... we read the story of the people of Limhi. She really paid attention and understood that she has to be patient and pray with all her heart to God to receive the necessary help to attend church. She prayed and asked that she might be able to attend church. On Sunday we went to her house and was not there... We went to church and just as Sacrament meeting was about to start she came into the room. She listened intently and told me that she had received answers to her prayers thanks to listening to the discussions. Sister Angeles works in a village near Morelia ... to get to the church she had to take a taxi to the chapel and a taxi back to work. It was a beautiful experience and we learned that the Book of Mormon combined with prayer really helped her attend Sacrament meeting for the first time.]
I am doing really well... and know that we are going to haave a succesful week this week.
Yes I do have more time to focus on my area now that I am not a Zone Leader. Being district leader is similar but different... I tend to like it better... but maybe its just because I love my area.
Love,
Elder Summers
